Top firms often expect their employees to come in early (6-7AM), work through lunch and leave late (8-9PM). Is that an ethical expectation?
Wouldn’t you like to think that firms should be accountable for the well-being of their employees and therefore should encourage people to get out for lunch and maximize the time they spend working? Or should the six figure paycheck that comes with unreasonable hours at the office compensate for the loss in a balanced lifestyle the twenty-something year old over worked employee ultimately experiences? Can we expect more? I think we can; we can do better.
